Large-scale mobile satellite laser ranging system firstly carried out observation task in Xianning city,Hubeiprovince in 2012. The instrument moves by the mobile method of semitrailer-shipment, with telescope diameter of 1 meter, 10 meters length, 2.5 meters width, 3.9meters height and 15 tons weight. It has the capability of daytime observation and kHz ranging, and can automatically open the astronomical dome during the observation. According to the report from Guo Tangyong Researcher Fellow who has been always responsible for the project, this system can observe the geosynchronous satellite, 36 thousand kilometers away from the earth, and ranging accuracy can reach millimeter.

This new Satellite Laser Ranging system is designed based on the previous smaller system TROS-Ⅰwith 38cm telescope aperture, which has finished successfully the Shenzhou-Ⅳ laser precision orbit determination observation mission in Xinjiang in 2000 years. And this SLR system achieved firstly the function of KHz ranging in Fangshan,Beijingcity in April 13th 2008, and carried out successfully a one-year cooperative observation inKoreafrom 2008 to 2009. Nowadays this new generation SLR system TROS-1000 has improved performance in many aspects, such as automation, daytime observation and KHz ranging and so on. Especially its receiving aperture reaches 1 meter, which makes it become the largest mobile Satellite Laser Ranging system in the world.
